Jesus did not yield to satan when tempted.
Jesus did not let them throw Him off of a cliff, or stone Him, or kill Him in any other way – until it was the Father’s appointed time and method.
Jesus did not go to Jerusalem before the time because He knew they wanted to kill Him.
**Why?** Because Jesus only did what He saw the Father doing – God living in Him. He “followed the Spirit.” He lives by the Life of the Father in Him.
Jesus called the religious establishment leaders hypocrites and liars, sons of the devil. He said that men’s hearts spawn and propagate evil thoughts, adulteries, sexual immoralities, thefts, false witness, slanders. Jesus did not entrust Himself to them because He knew what was in the hearts of ALL men.
Jesus called the religious establishment leaders blind guides – fools – unclean, dead inside, a brood of vipers. He said, “Woe to you… hypocrites, because you shut off the kingdom of heaven from people; for you do not enter in yourselves, nor do you allow those who are entering to go in.”
Jesus didn’t always say nice things, nor did He bless every one. In fact, He submitted to no one except God, His Father (and ours).
Jesus blasted them for laying the heavy burden on the shoulders of men that they themselves could not carry.
No man is able to achieve righteousness through his own actions or out of his own heart. It is why he needs a Savior. The Law itself proves that we cannot do it. Our Savior Jesus – is the One who is righteous in Holy God’s sight. Jesus is the One through Whom we are reconciled to God our Father. God was in Christ, reconciling the world to Himself.
Just as the Father lives in Jesus, and through Jesus; and God exhibited Himself to the world through Him (“When you have seen Me you have seen the Father.”) – when you are born from above of God, the Spirit of God lives in you. It is God in Christ as the Spirit.
One is your leader – that is Christ.
So we may fear what is happening in the world because we are blind. We do not see that God – literally – is in control; -and that not one sparrow falls apart from Him. He is with that sparrow, He is aware of that sparrow, and the sparrow falls at His appointed time.
Jesus was surrounded by an angry, hating mob, and was carried in their surge to the edge of a cliff. They wanted to toss Him over, yet He “simply” passed through them and went His way.
I thought how the Father held them; He kept them -unable- to take hold of Jesus, and enabled Jesus to “pass through” them. It was not the Father’s appointed time or manner for Jesus to die.
Jesus told Pilate that he could do nothing unless given to him by the Father. God was doing His will -now-. Jesus submitted at the time the Father in Him enabled Him, or did it.
**Why?** The Father’s will.
Jesus suffered in Gethsemene – maybe not to become willing – He was willing. But maybe to be able, to be sure of the Father’s will. “If it is possible, take this cup from Me – if not Your will be done.” God sent an angel then to strengthen Jesus.
– There was no waste –
God does not waste life. Jesus died – was given to death by God – for God’s purpose, at God’s time. At the right time Christ died for the ungodly.
Following the Spirit, Christ in you, does not take you every day to crucifixion. But we carry the cross – we died in Him and are living through Him – but when He does take you to death, or any other situation, you cannot avoid or change it. His will be done.
He knows His time and method in our lives.
Jesus showed His disciples not to respond out of the flesh, but through His Spirit – “Those who take up the sword shall die by the sword. I can appeal to the Father to put over 12 legions of angels at My disposal – but look, see – this is being done to fulfill the scriptures, God’s Word, God’s Will. It must happen this way.”
God’s will and desire is all Jesus desired.
Then, to the crowd: “So you come out to Me now as you would a robber?” (Jeus was not incredulous here- He is stating truth for them to see.) “I taught every day in the temple, and you did not seize Me.” You are acting according to God’s will. This has taken place to full the scriptures of the prophets.”
This is My Father’s appointed time and method. You are being orchestrated by My Father to fulfill His will and purpose.
It is the same for us – no one can do anything to us or for us unless it is given by the Father. Our lives are appointed – predestined by God (according to His purpose). We are of much more value than the sparrows; and those who do to us – or we to ourselves – are also appointed by God. They shall pay for their deeds.
All are vessels for the Potter’s use.
It is the Spirit Who gives life.
Do we fear suffering for ourselves and for those we love? Do we fear those who can kill the body and not the soul? (We love, care for and nurture our bodies – of course we seek to protect.)? But, or – fear Him Who is able to destroy both body and soul in hell.
Sometimes we go into our self-defense mode. Sometimes we are very afraid, and we have also our Gethsemane – we learn God’s will is done on earth as it is in heaven.
Are we soldiers or governments or are we not? Do we scourge with cords, or heal and bless and die for others? It is according to the Spirit, living within in the Father’s will. But – any way it is for us – it is what God is giving us.
It is very humbling.
In trusting God, we have peace through Jesus in us as our Peace. Only Christ is our righteousness, our Peace – only Christ can fulfill the requirements and actions of God.
We want to be willing. We want to do it good for God. We want to do all the things He wants. But the truth is – only He can do it. The truth is – His will is done on earth as it is in heaven.
Sometimes it seems like our God is wasteful – with the world, with our human lives, with what He has evil accomplishing in this world… in His process to achieve His plan.
Sometimes it seems like “What is the point?” But it comes down to, “He is the Point.” He is the reason, and He wills and works to His good pleasure and ultimate purpose. Unlike what some are saying that things happen for no reason – there is a reason for everything that happens.
That reason is God.
It is humbling to see my life as construction material… and yet in a very real way our each and every life is vital to God and to His plan.
As in a painting – each stroke is vital to the finished masterpiece. – Yet many are unseen, many are outstanding. No stroke is wasted.
We are His inheritance. We are what God gets out of this “whole thing.” We are His reward. That is huge to think about, especially if we are feeling just a wee bit expendable.
God’s construction material is gold, silver and precious stones. He burns away wood, hay and stubble, and clears away the dross.
So let us not look at what is burning away. In His subjecting everything to futility, God is not wasteful with the world, or with our lives.
Let’s look at what He is building – He’s building you up and giving you the inheritance among those who are sanctified in Jesus –
– Household
– City
– Kingdom
– One New Man
– God All in all.
So now, it is a different kind of humbling.
Praise the Almighty God, our Daddy. Praise Him and His Purpose for which Christ Jesus offered Himself…. Who – for the joy set before Him – offered Himself.
And, just for the record – at the appointed time and manner – Jesus Christ will return! His robe dipped in blood – His Name called The Word of God… and He comes wielding a sharp sword.
