Nice and Simple

It’s nice to paint a few “faster” pieces, something that doesn’t take a year to do. It makes one feel quite productive, actually.

It feels good to “get my hand back” with oils and watercolor. And sometimes it’s nice to paint things that are simpler, without a great deal of philosophy or thought, just places you like being; or getting to paint the color red in various tones.

Watercolor is probably my favorite medium to work in, I’m most relaxed and love the effects achieved with them. It’s also most enjoyable to capture light.

I liked the light beaming these tomatoes on my counter.

It’s also very nice to paint smaller pieces, with big things in them! This oil below is a smaller piece, but still has the feel of grand spaces. It was also fun to play with light in this landscape.
