Grace with Central Park

It was a sunny day in Central Park, New York City. I loved the people rowing boats, walking, talking. I loved the restfulness within the bustle of the city… people’s private space in the middle of crowds.

It has been awhile since I have finished a painting and it feels good to have completed this one that I began months ago, only to abandon it to the realization that I had forgotten how to finish it. My husband encouraged me, saying, “Just enjoy the Lord and have fun.” Praise the Lord I have grace to paint again.

This time, I found an enjoyment that wasn’t there when I began. The colors brightened, the light lightened. Having considered the painting as a loss, just painting it was joy and the result was freer.

It is a good thing to paint in grace.
